What can I do with old toast bread?
4 cups of cooking oil. To Make The “Ashta”: 2 cups of milk. 2 tablespoons of cornstarch. 1 tablespoon of fine semolina. 1 tablespoon of rose water. 2 eggs. Spices: ¼ teaspoon of salt, onion and garlic powder, pepper and nutmeg. For The Sealing Paste: Mix ⅓ cup flour with ⅓ cup water. For The Simple Syrup: 2 cups of sugar. 1 cup of water. 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. 1 tablespoon of orange blossom water. To Garnish: 2 tablespoons of ground pistachios.
To Make The Simple Syrup: Stir the sugar and the water in a pot and add the lemon juice.
Let boil for 5 minutes and turn off the heat.
Add the orange blossom water.
In a separate pot, pour the milk and add the cornstarch and the semolina. Stir well and bring to a boil.
Flatten the toast bread and spread the “Ashta” on one of the sides.
Roll the bread and seal the roll with the sealing paste.
Fry the rolls until they become golden.
Drizzle the simple syrup on the rolls and garnish them with ground pistachio.
